Cookie Policy

Welcome to https://www.lovelythings.ie (the ‘Site’) which is hosted by Shopify. This policy is meant to explain the types of cookies and other tracking technologies that may be placed on your device when you are visiting the Site.

Here you will find information on what cookies may be set when you visit the Site and how to reject or delete those cookies. For further detailed information about the Site, please click here to see our terms and conditions at Terms & Conditions

By continuing to use the Site, you are agreeing to our use of cookies in the manner described in this policy.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small amount of information that’s downloaded to your computer or device when you visit certain websites. A number of different cookies on the Site, including strictly necessary, performance, advertising, and social media or content cookies. Cookies make your browsing experience better by allowing the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login and region selection). This means you don’t have to re-enter this information each time you return to the site or browse from one page to another. Cookies also provide information on how people use the website, for instance whether it’s their first time visiting or if they are a frequent visitor.

Cookies are an extremely common technology for remembering certain information about a Visitor to a website. The vast majority of websites currently make use of cookies and they are commonly used for a wide range of tasks.

What cookies do we use and why?

Some cookies are necessary to allow you to browse the Site, use its features, and access secure areas. The use of these cookies is essential for the Site to work. For example, we use user-input cookies for the duration of a session to keep track of a user’s input when filling in forms that span several pages.

We also use functional cookies to remember choices you’ve made or information you’ve provided, such as your username, language, or the region you are in. This allows us to tailor your website experience specifically to your preferences. For example, authentication cookies are functional cookies that are used for the duration of a session (or persistent, if you agree to the “remember me” function) to allow users to authenticate themselves on subsequent visits or to gain access to authorized content across pages. The functional cookies we use include:

  • User-centric security cookies to detect authentication abuses for a limited persistent duration, like repeated failed login attempts. These cookies are set for the specific task of increasing the security of the service.
  • Multimedia content player session cookies (flash cookies) are used for the duration of a session to store technical data needed to play back video or audio content (e.g. image quality, network link speed, and buffering parameters).
  • Load balancing session cookies are used for the duration of the session to identify the same server in the pool in order for the load balancer to redirect user requests appropriately.
  • User interface customization persistent cookies are used to store a user’s preference regarding a service across web pages.

Lovely Things is dedicated to user experience and use many tools to help us improve our Site. To this end, we use reporting and analytics cookies to collect information about how you use our Site, and how often. These cookies only gather information for statistical purposes and only use pseudonymous cookie identifiers that do not directly identify you. The performance cookies used include:

  • First party analytics cookies -   these cookies to estimate the number of unique visitors, to improve our websites and our merchants’ websites, and to detect the most searched for words in search engines that lead to a webpage. These cookies are not used to target you with online marketing. We use these cookies to learn how our Sites are performing and make relevant improvements to improve your browsing experience.
  • Third party analytics cookies - We also use Google Analytics and other third-party analytics providers listed below to help measure how users interact with our website content. These cookies “remember” what our users have done on previous pages and how they’ve interacted with the website. For more information on Google Analytics, visit Google’s information page. For instructions on how opt out of Google Analytics, see below.

We do not set advertising cookies on our Site.

Finally, social and content cookies are placed by many social media plugins (for example the Facebook ’like’ button), and other tools meant to provide or improve the content on a website (for example services that allow the playing of video files, or that create comments sections). These modules are integrated into the Shopify platform to improve the experience of browsing and interacting with our Site. Please note that some of these third-party services place cookies that are also used for things like behavioural advertising, analytics, and/or market research.

How to control and delete cookies

When you accessed the Site, you were presented with a cookie declaration that notified you of our use of cookies. We had to use a cookie to present you with that notice (you can see details of this cookie under ‘Cookie Banner’ in the table below). If you continue to use the Site, more cookies and other tracking technologies will be placed on your computer as described in this Cookie Policy in order to enhance your user experience whilst on the Site. By continuing to use the Site and/or by accepting our Terms and Conditions, you are agreeing to the use of such cookies and tracking technology.

We will not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information about you. However, if you wish to restrict or block the cookies which are set by the Site (or, indeed, on any other site) you can do this through your browser settings. The ‘Help’ function within your browser should tell you how. In respect of cookies that are set via the Site, you can also disable these by following the instructions provided in the section titled ‘Opting Out’ in each of the tables below.

Alternatively, you may wish to visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org/ which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of browsers. You will also find details on how to delete cookies from your computer, as well as more general information about cookies. Please note that, as these websites are not owned or operated by Lovely Things, we are not responsible for any of the content on them.

Please be aware that restricting cookies may mean that you will not be able to take full advantage of all the features or services available on the Site.

Email Tracking

Some of the emails we send to you may contain a ‘web beacon pixel’ or tracked links which allows us to identify when you have opened the email and to verify which links contained in the email you have accessed. We use this information to determine which parts of our emails are of most interest to you.

You can delete the pixel by deleting the email. If you do not wish to download the pixel to your computer or other device, you can ensure this by selecting to receive emails from us in plain text rather than HTML.

How long will cookies remain on my computer or mobile device?

The length of time that a cookie remains on your computer or mobile device depends on whether it is a “persistent” or “session” cookie. Session cookies last until you stop browsing and persistent cookies last until they expire or are deleted. Most of the cookies we use are persistent and will expire between 30 minutes and two years from the date they are downloaded to your device. See the section below on how to control cookies for more information on removing them before they expire.

Changes

We may make changes to this Cookie Policy at any time by posting a copy of them on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after those changes means that you agree to be bound by the modified policy.
