Social Responsibility Programme

At Lovely Things we want to support positive social and environmental change in Ireland through our donation commitment (see below).

We have identified 3 areas on which we wish to focus. These areas are:

  • Accessibility
  • Inclusivity
  • Biodiversity

Following our due diligence, we have selected the following 3 charitable & not for profit groups and organisations who, we believe, work to achieve this in these areas (our ‘Programme Partners’).

Accessibility

Our New Ears (‘ONE’) is an entirely voluntary and self-funded group supporting parents and families of babies and children who are deaf and hard of hearing. ONE works in conjunction with Chime, The National Charity for Deafness and Hearing Loss, Charity Number: CHY 5633.

For more information on ONE and the work they do see https://www.facebook.com/OurNewEarsPage

Inclusivity

The Irish Refugee Council (‘IRC’) provides services and support for people seeking protection and people recognised as refugees in Ireland and advocates for humane and dignified protection procedures and responses to people fleeing persecution. CHY Number: 10153

For more information on the IRC and the work they do see https://www.irishrefugeecouncil.ie/

Biodiversity

Reforest Nation's projects aim to reintroduce diverse native woodland back into the Irish landscape. This will restore ecosystem services, promote, biodiversity and sequester carbon from the atmosphere.

Reforest Nation plant only certified native trees consisting of a diverse mix of up to 20 species and all trees are planted by hand as not to disturb the soil.

How does the donation commitment work?

Lovely Things are very happy to accept donations of clothing which meet our Quality Standards. For each kilo of donated items received which meet these standards, Lovely Things will donate a minimum of €3 (in total) to be shared equally between our Programme Partners. We may also run specific projects with our Programme Partners from time to time at our discretion.

We will make one donation of the total commitment and any ad hoc funding from specific projects mentioned above to each of the Programme Partners each year. This will be no later that 4 months after the completion of our accounts for that year. The total amount donated to our Programme Partners will be published on our website after the donation date by Lovely Things.

For the year 2021, the total commitment amount was €699.50. This means that €233.17 was raised for each Programme Partner with an additional €32 raised for ONE through our Christmas Jumper fundraiser, totalling €265.17 for ONE.

We welcome your feedback and would be delighted to hear from you at contactus@lovelythings.ie
